Lost Boys & Co... T aking advantage of the beautiful early morning, these visitors from Utah (#1) ended up taking a dip (fully clothed by-the-by)  up to their perfectly coiffed hairdos.  We were a bit distressed that with their heavy clothing they might sink or get wrapped up in their skirts, but they stayed out for the best part of an hour and left in high spirits... Amen... M eanwhile, it was unobstructed visibility all the way to the horizon and a warm pleasant sun was shining.  Winds were light offshore initially and the sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The air temperature was 68.1º and the water was 66.9º at the buoy but closer to 70 in the surfline.  Low tide was at 5:29am +0.6' and high tide was at 11:50am +5.0'.  We have a SSW swell out of 195º at 3.0' and it was 1' to 3' and some fun peaks created by the short period swell... W here is the Wiggly Bus?  Mr. Wiggly is in the shop apparently the victim of a cracked head.  Who hasn't had their head cracked if you've been around long enough?  S'posed to be fixed sometime this week, but until then we're riding the Woody Von Townie® (#2) to our morning rendezvous with the surf...  ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Lost Boys & Co... G ray and small this morning, but that didn't stop Zack (#1) from his appointed rounds.  Rounds in that he must have done 5 or 6 helicopters and landed about three of them.  Here he sets up for a nice little five as he glides across the inside... S even miles visibility under overcast skies with winds out of the NNW by 2 to 3kts.  A slight bump to the playing surface and it was 65.9º in the air and 70.3º in the water.  High tide was at 10:15am +4.4' and low tide follows at 3:21pm +1.9'.  We have a SSW swell out of 192º at 3.0', but it's a tad oblique to be hitting the Hermosa Beach.  It was 2' with some 3' outsides and they're calling for a bigger south swell mañana, replete with rips, big waves and dangerous conditions.  We, of course, will be spared some of the excitement, but it could be marginally better if your heart is pure... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

T he water in Catalina was just cool enough to be nice with a bit of neoprene on.  Lina, Ginny and Millie (#1) went the whole suit route, while the rest of us tried various iterations of covering up for comfort...  Sunny and warm air though... Lost Boys & Co... Y eah, so it was a party this morning as we celebrated, the celebrated (mostly because of this gathering) Doc ? a.k.a. Ed Scale and another trip around this star we call home to our galaxy.  There was a board meeting and then from L. to R. we have:  Aaron, Mr. Christian, LoLa, Miloe, Doc?, Laurie, Ginny, Joey, Barbina, Don't Walk Away René and Jah Morgan.  AGTWHBA... O vercast and small, but the rising tide and a peaky SSW swell kept things interesting.  Winds were trying to be offshore from the SSW and the sea surface was slightly bumped.  Let's call it 2' to almost three... Y ou can't have a party without party crashers.  And who should crash, but Sonny Vardemann and Bing Copeland.  It was a chance to hear a couple of good stories before the party disassembled.  Just for your notes, Sonny is 85 and Bing is 87...  L to R:  The Professor, Bing, Sonny, Joey Lombardo and Miloe... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Lost Boys & Co... "The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on." Carl Sandberg Well, yeah Carl...  So how come it's 11:30 and it's still looking over harbor and city and hasn't moved on?  Between the onshores and the fog it's been a cool August and personally, we're ready to turn up the warm.  Visibility was 200yds even for cats and winds were onshore 1 to 2kts.  The airt was 66.2º and the water is trying at 69.4º.  8:04am +2.2' low tide going high at 3:00pm +4.9'.  We have a south swell out of 172º at 2.3' and it was 1' to 2' and sloppy gray...
