Anchors Aweigh Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The water in Catalina was just cool enough to be nice with a bit of neoprene on.  Lina, Ginny and Millie (#1) went the whole suit route, while the rest of us tried various iterations of covering up for comfort...  Sunny and warm air though...

Gray this morning at home with 7 miles visibility and winds out of the SSE by 3 to 4kts.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 65.9º and the water is 71.8º.  A nice warm layer on the top foot or so...  High tide at 9:16am +4.0' and low tide goes out at 1:43pm +2.7'.  We have a SW swell out of 224º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3'.

Here (#2) we have the eager and curious waiting to take the boat and head over for some adventuring.  By all accounts Lina and Millie had a great time and sound like they'd like to try it again when we can stay longer.  The Dutch girls likewise had fun but we're thinking they liked the margaritas on the beach as much as snorkeling.  And as good as the margaritas were, the piña coladas, were better.  Something about all that whipped cream...

The casino (#3) as seen from Descanso Beach.  We snorkeled on the north end of the cove and saw all manner of finny friends, including octopus, stingrays, calico bass, opal eye and the ever present garibaldis.  If you haven't read, "Why Fish Don't Exist" by Lulu Miller, you have just enough summer left to read and get through it...  On your mark...
