Our mission is to introduce kids to open water swimming, ocean safety and environmental awareness. We introduce career paths associated with this field and foster a lifelong relationship with the ocean. Our Ocean program educates High School students, through a mentorship program. Ocean Fever provides CPR/First Aid and leadership training. The mentors then become leaders for the younger beginner ocean swimmers in swimming and paddling. Lost Boys & Co... This (#1) was Banksy's take on Valentine's Day... From the Breakwall to the Manhattan Pier (#2) nary a soul was venturing into the chilly waters.  Chilly at 52.4ยบ from the 15kt wind that's blowing a tattoo across the choppy seas.  Cloudy, although probably not going to rain.  The water is uncooperative at 56.3ยบ.  Low tide is late at 11:19am +0.3' and high tide is late at 6:48pm 2.8'.  We have a west swell out of 268ยบ at 5.9' and it's blowing down to 5' and blowing up to 7'.   That's that... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Lost Boys & Co... O n several occasions Coach Avery has caused our brains to explode๐Ÿ˜ณ, but this morning might have taken the cake.  He produced for our amusement and curiosity the Stanford "Elimination of Harmful Language Initiative".  On some level we think that being "politically correct" is absolutely a great and proper idea.  However, like all things good and great, some people tend to take things a bit far.  Like they suggest the term "American" is problematic.  Why?  Because it leaves out all the rest of the countries of the Americas.  They suggest U.S. Citizen.  Yes, next time I get a cheeseburger it's going to have U.S. Citizen Cheese...  Really, it melts like crazy, sorry: "surprisingly well"... M onday from 1 to 4 there'll be a Valentine's Day Chocolate sale at Stoked Chocolates at 136 Pier Avenue (the same space as Cultured Slice.)  If you want to score some great chocs for your sweetie this will be the place.  You didn't hear it from us, but the word is there will be anatomically correct choco

Y es!  The hardest part of surfing is getting in and OUT of the wetsuit.  Here (#1) we have Doc Scale boinging around the parking lot trying to extricate himself from his rubber restraint.  One word:  CONDITIONER.  Yes, it makes getting out of these full-bodied finger traps much easier.  Apply it to the outside of the suit and they turn inside out like your stomach after the three brandy's you had at the Christmas party in 2015. 10 Miles visibility this morning with a few clouds along the periphery.  Winds were calm and the sea surface was just a bit rolled.  The air was chilly at 48.3ยบ and the water is a bit cool as well at 57.2ยบ.  High tide was at 9:34am +5.5' and low tide drains at 4:28pm -0.4'.  We had a west swell out of 264ยบ at 3.9' and it was 3' to 5' and was working through the tide... ✠ &qu
