Mozzarella Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...    S outh Myrtle beach : air 90,water 85, winds calm, surf 1. Good sized thunderstorm just ended and they let folks back out on the beach Boys & Co... (The Danger Boy Chronicles continue...) L ight overcast this morning breaking into sun early in the day.  12 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 1.0kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 62.6° and the water was a cool 64.2° at the buoy.   (Note:  It has been considerably warmer on the beach and in the surfline.  Typically it's been in the high 60's throughout the week...  Ed.)  High tide was at 8:46am +4.0' and low tide will be at 1:32pm +2.0'.  We have a west swell, variable out of 253° at 2.6' and we'll call it 2' to 3' with some rideable out sides. R ockin' & rollin' in Hermosa as they start the summer concert series...  ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."  The Professor!!

Fuel Oil Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys &Co... " 14 th floor. North Myrtle beach. 88 degrees air temp, wind onshore at 30 knots. Waves about 1 to 2. Don't know about water temp yet."   (Danger Boy reporting from his lair high above the mid-Atlantic...  Ed.) M eanwhile, on a completely different coast, we have overcast skies and a little shy of 10 miles visibility.  Winds are softly onshore by 1.2kts and the sea surface is smooth to lightly rippled.  Winds will increase to 10-12kts with light to moderate chop.  The air temp was 61.8° and the water is 64.4° at the buoy with a 70° posted on the Hermosa Main Tower.  It was rather pleasant yesterday.  High tide at 5:34am +3.1' and low tide to follow at 9:55am +2.2'.  A late afternoon high is full at 4:58pm showing 5.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 210°, continuing to swing west at 2.3' and we'll call it 1' to 2' and some nice little munchers to lubricate your kneecaps... A lways a good feeling to warm those frigid toesies at the fireside.  Be certain there is a responsible adult present to make sure you don't get too enthusiastic.  As we sat here, we found ourselves pondering just how Vienna sausages were discovered... S ome light overcast early on with 15 miles visibility, breaking into partly cloudy conditions.  Wind was up from the start, 1.9kts at checkout and the sea surface was lightly chopped.  The air temp was 62.5° and the water at the buoy was 63.9°.  However, the guards at Hermosa posted a 69° and that seemed a bit more realistic.  Low tide at 8:42am +1.8' and high tide will follow at 3:51pm +5.4'.  We have a SSW swell out of 209°, creeping into our window of opportunity.  It's reading 2.6' and we'll call it 1' to 2' and poor. Lost Boys & Co... T he look on Thomas Miloe's face says it all.  Old men in lei's drinking coffee and wearing wetsuits just don't cut it...  Don't even mention the doughnut... O vercast this morning as the sun tried to penetrate the clou dies without much success.  10 miles visibility.  Winds were onshore from the start 2.9kts at checkout and a light ripple on the water.  The air temperature was 60.4° and the water has dropped another degree to 63.7°.  We are in fact checking out Hawaiian property at this time.  Low tide at 7:49am +1.4' and high tide will be at 2:48pm +5.2'.  Tides will start to swing more widely as we get into next week and the end of the month.  The buoy shows a SSW swell out of 195° at 2.6'.  We're calling it 1' to 2' and good for paddling, floating and splashing...  ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."  The Professor!!

Watteau Sunset Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...   A n incredible sunset this evening and people were pouring out of the restaurants and bars to snap a few pics, before the next round.  In the end the folks were just as interesting as the brilliant display the sun put on.  You know guys, you just have to get out more often... H ump day dawned with about 15 miles visibility under partly cloudy skies.  Winds were onshore at 4.1kts and the sea surface was a bit rippled, heading to a light chop.  The air temperature was 61.9° and the water was 66.0°, up 3° in as many days.  High tide was at 10:27am +4.0' and low tide is at 3:12pm +2.1'.  We have a SSW swell from 200° at 2.3', translating into one footers on the beach.  Good for paddling, SUP-ing, canoeing and water skiing.  Not so red-hot for surfing... W e sincerely hope you can open this movie app.  The pig was roasting slowly - people were hungry - we needed to take extreme measures.  "Danger Boy!  Turn on the heat vision!"  5 seconds later the piggy was served... M eanwhile there was music on the foredeck... Almost Thunderous Thursday Surf & Culture Report

I n some parts of the world, they're actually having summer and people are out frolicking in the sun, getting tan and in some cases getting the backs of their bikini tops branded into their very flesh.  Allison Burke sports this solar tatt after a day on the dock at Lake Payette... B ut no, we're here and it's raining.  Yes, it's July 12th and it's raining.  It tried spitting all day and finally when the temps hit the dew-point, it just decided to give in and actually rain.  Visibility was 2 miles this morning and skies were cloudy.  Winds were offshore at checkout by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was a deceptive 67.6° but the water was seriously chilly at 63.5°.  High tide was at 6:18am +2.9' and low tide will follow at 10:30am +2.3'.   We have a weak SW swell out of 216° and it's 2.6' at the buoy and 2' on the shore.  Nothing in store for the next few days... Pig Roast # 7 in yesterday's photo:   His name is Chris , but we all call him sancho.....  (Laurie Garcia..._) Sunday, July 15th F oggy and overcast this morning with about 1½ miles visibility.  Winds were calm and the sea surface was smooth to almost glassy.  The air temperature was 61.5° and the water is not quite summer quality at 63.1°.  Low tide is at 9:31am +2.0' and high tide is at 4:38pm +4.8'.  We have a WSW swell out of 259° at 2.6'.  The surf is about 2' with some stronger sets, but mostly knee-knockers.  Imagine:  knee-knockers.  We've got this mental picture... 4pm, 516 Paseo de las Estrellas B irdie had a de-lam on the deck of his board.  He repaired it and then didn't have a sticker big enough to cover the job.  He went over and saw Keoni and asked him if he might be able to do a tiki big enough to cover the repair.  Birdie thought he'd just knock out some simple thing - but the result is anything but!  He did it

Pig Roast LoLa & the Professor's Place Sunday, July 15th, 4pm O n this particular night as the moon rose over Lake Payette smiled on the banks of McCall, there were 35 proposals, 17 burn injuries related to fireworks or firecrackers, 10 cases of smoke related asthma, 5 songs were written rhyming with "moon," 4 people fell in the lake and had to be rescued, 2 children were born and 1 guy burned his pants trying to shoot a bottle ro cket from the crack of his ass... L imited visibility this morning in the 1 to 5 mile range, under foggy, overcast skies.  Winds were from the west early at 5.1kts and the sea surface had a definite chop.  The air temperature was 64.2° and the water was 63.5°, although we would'a guessed 65.  Low tide was at 8:42am +1.5' and high tide will be at 3:44pm +4.7'.  We have a SW swell out of 217° at 3.0' and we're calling it 3' to 4'. F oggy in the earlier am, getting partly cloudy early and then full sun after 9:30am.  Hawk was blowing from the get-go 4.1kts out of the WSW, with a bit of light chop.  The air temperature was a cool 61.0° and the water was a disappointing 64.4°, but with the sun a shorty is in order.  Low tide at 8:00am +0.9' and high tide washes in at 2:52pm +4.7'.  #46221 has a SW swell out of 216° mixing with a slight north for a 3.0' bump.  That was about it 3'
