Lost Boys & Co... D awn broke chilly (59.9ยบ) and mostly clear this morning (#1) with 10 miles visibility and offshore winds about 7kts.  The sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The water was feeling warm at 69.3 in contrast to that wind aided 59.9.  Low tide was early at 4:37am +0.4' and high tide was at 10:50am +6.2'.  We have a SW swell out of 230ยบ at 3.9' and it was 3' to 5' on the outside for a second morning of quality surf... I n Idaho, members of the "Friends of the Great Pumpkin" made it out to Wendell's farm outside of Eagle to tour the pumpkin patch and visit the livestock.  Here (#2) Wendell points out the south 40, where all of the pumpkins have been spoken for by Albertson's.  They've already taken three semis full and headed south to make sure all of the good children of the world have a chance to appease the Great Pumpkin and not be turned into a pie before Thanksgiving...  Or something like that... Lost Boys & Co... W hat we have here (#1) is evidence that a photograph can make the surf look better than it was.  It was breaking pretty much on the sand.  If you could get up quickly enough you could eke out a turn and then try not to break your ankle.  The wind was perfect though, blowing offshore at 7.8kts and the sea surface was textured but smooth.  7 miles visibility and there were some low clouds bumping through. The air temperature was 65.5 and the water was 69.3.  High tide was at 8:04am +4.6' and low tide will be at 1:19pm +1.9'.  We have a SSW swell out of 209ยบ at 3.0' and it was 2' to a doubled-up 3'.  You'd think that a two foot wave would double to four feet, but it doesn't necessarily work that way... N o scheduled happy hour this week while we head up to Boise to reconnoiter their standing wave with Jimmy Barahona... R eport will resume next Monday in time for us to atone properly... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"

Lost Boys & Co... W ay to go Greta!  Kick some climate ass! O n a fall day, a little ukulele music brings out that summer vibe (#1)... H azy sun this morning and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were light onshore, variable to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a chilly 60 and the water is 70.5.  High tide was at 7:36am +4.2' and low tide was at 12:27pm +2.5'.  We have a SSW swell out of 206ยบ at 3.0' and it's still a bit oblique to give us a good push... E veryone always goes on about how crowded Oahu is.  Well, we'll give you that point about town, but get out into the country and the west side (#2 & #3) and it's pretty quiet.  On this afternoon we headed out past Makaha and out toward Kaena Point.  Makaha was about 3 foot and Maili had some waves, but it was calm for the most part and unhurried along the road... N o happy hour this week, while we adjust to the procession of the equinoxes... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"

Lost Boys & Co... Well, here he is!  Welcome Salvador Leao, our newest Lost Boy, Portugal Chapter.  He and mom are doing great and dad says that he looks like he's ready to go surfing... Cloudy this morning and 5 miles visibility (#1 & #2) with onshore winds out of the west by 5kts.   The sea surface was gray and heavily textured. The air was a chilly 60 and the water is 69.8.  High tide was at 7:07am +3.8' and low tide is barely changing at 11:am +3.0'.  We have a SW swell out of 214ยบ at 3.3' and it was 2' to 3' and knocked down a bit by the wind.  It's supposed to be offshore tomorrow, so things might improve!  Supposed to rain on Friday, if you believe those rash predictions... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Lost Boys & Co... M ultiplication by division (#1).  One of Redondo's longboarders (Jack Northrup, no relation to thee Jack Northrop) tried to turtle an inside wedge and ended up with his three-stringer in two pieces...  Ouch! S unny this morning with 10 to 15 miles visibility and offshore winds to 3.3kts.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was a cool 60.0 and the water is holding at 70.3.  Low tide early at 5:37am +1.7' and high tide will be at 11:58am +5.0'.  We have a SSW swell out of 198ยบ at 3.0' and it was a slightly walled 2' to 3' with some surprises about every 10 minutes... T he Professor pondering the secrets of the universe (#2).  Out there all by himself, Tarzan swam up and said, "Where are your minions?"  He turned and replied, "Well, you're here..."  Not that Tarzan would ever be anyone's minion... W hy are these men laughing (#3)?  Probably because they just found out that Happy Hour is going to be a

Lost Boys & Co... "Waitress a napkin..." The haze quickly burned off this morning and it was 10 miles visibility and salty blue skies.  Winds were mainly offshore and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 63.5 and the water is 70.7.  High tide was at 11:30am +5.1' and low tide will be at 5:51pm +1.3'.  Tides flip tomorrow and we'll have low tides to start the mornings for a week.  The swell is supposed to continue to increase slowly and right now it's out of 210ยบ SSW at 3.3'.  With any luck it'll get a lift from the north and we'll have some action on the outside sand bars... Bobby Warchola leaving the scene of the crime (#2).  Hermosa was small but some fun ones if you were quick... Still no word on the Happy Hour spot...  We're waiting... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Lost Boys & Co... T he Great Fuzzini sent us this pic (#1) from the archives.  Probably around the later 90's.  From L. to R.:  Tyrone James, Kevin Costner McGoldrick, The Coach, The Professor, Suzi, Danger Boy, Fuzzini and Easky.  Looks like one of those foggy spring mornings... M arking their first year of riding bicycles to Brothers, Donna and Dane baked some cupcakes (#2) for the crew.  You will immediately recognize the decoration as their riding helmets!  Not only clever, but delicious as well! Y ou could feel a hint of fall in the air as the clouds rolled through and we received reports of raindrops falling on some heads.  Winds were fluky and variable and the sea surface was glassy.  The air temperature was 66.5 and the water was 70.9.  High tide was at 11:03am +5.0' and low tide was at 5:12pm +1.2'.  We have a SSW swell out of 209ยบ at 2.6' and it was 2' to almost 3'. A beautiful morning last Friday (#3) as the Redondo Surf Team took to the water.

Lost Boys & Co... R umors continue to swirl about Jah Morgan (#1)... R emember it's Patrick๐Ÿ€Malloy's tonight at 5:30pm on the patio.  The Professor was calling to make reservations and the clouds started rolling through.  We have no idea what the weather will be doing, but we'll be on the patio so dress accordingly... H azy sun this morning and about 10miles visibility.  Winds were light onshore by 3.0kts and the sea surface had a bit of texture.  The seaweed/minestrone soup that clogged the lineup yesterday has disappeared.  The air temp was 63.3 and the water was a pleasant 71.8.  High tide was at 9:57am +4.8' and low tide follows at 3:33pm +1.5'.  We have a SSW swell out of 192ยบ at 2.3' and that might have just been exactly what it was.  Doc Scale and the Professor decided that they would splash around and damned glad they did.  Quite fun despite the short rides... W hat are these men #2, #3, #4 hiding?  You can tell they're up to something...  More

V iew of Diamond Head from Ala Moana, Tennis Courts (#2).  Talk about a long paddle!  The Professor barely scraped his foot and got three urchin spines and some reef rash that lasted for days.  He had to go to "Urchin Care." E ric Barton (#3), a new addition to the list.  He hit it a bit later than usual because he and his wife just had a baby (#1) and she needed a walk before pops could get in the water...  The baby, not the wife... #4  Our ha

Lost Boys & Co... T here's a hidden gem in Honolulu down on Waimanu St. back in the factory district.  It's the "Brewseum" and it's a museum dedicated to WWII (#1).  They begin at Pearl Harbor and carry on through the war.  Your host and curator is Glenn Tomlinson and he dresses as Gen. Douglas MacArthur and he is also the bartender at the upstairs speakeasy bar (#2).   Wednesday night is trivia night and you can test your trivial skills with some of the local intelligentsia... P artly cloudy skies and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the SE by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 62.0 and the water is 71.6.  High tide was at 9:15am +4.5' and low tide was at 2:34pm +1.9'.  There is a SW swell out of 205ยบ at 3.3'.  That was translated into 3' to 5' waves and some good rides by all present... G ray this morning (#1) with low clouds and a 7.5kt wind blowing straight out of the south, leaving the surface a bit textured.  The air temperature was 66.5 and the water is 71.2, but without sun things felt a bit chilled.  High tide was at 8:51am +4.4' and low tide is at 2:01pm +2.2'.  There's a SSW swell out of 197ยบ at 3.6' and it was a solid 3' to 5'.  A bit wally with some tight little corners (as shown)... #2   Here we have Queen Lili (Lili'uokalani) seated with her retinue and a copy of the original version of "Aloha 'Oe."  If you haven't visited the Bishop Museum in a while, take some time next time you're in Honolulu.  It's a treasure trove of

Lost Boys & Co... N o trip to Hawaii is complete without a pilgrimage to Town. And if you're in Town you've got to pay your respects to the Duke (#1).  Thanks for everything!  Aloha! C lear morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds were calm and the sea surface was devoid of yesterday's bump.  The air temperature was 62.2 and the water was 68.9.  High tide gave us a push at 8:24am +4.3' and low tide will be at 1:24pm +2.5'.  We have a SSW swell out of 202ยบ at 4.3' and it was 4' to 5' and maybe fatter on the odd outside.  Good, very good... A t the Hawaiian Surfboard Factory, we were perusing the racks (#2) when this guy comes up and asks if he can help us.  We say we're just looking but the Professor stopped for a minute and said, "Dude, you look so familiar?"  He said likewise and he introduced himself as "Vercelli".  It was Marc Vercelli, who had been a Hermosa standout in the 80's and learned how to shape from Hap Jacobs

Lost Boys & Co... I n a world (#1) where the Larry the Dairy wears Hawaiian shirts and the Professor wears a "Got Milk" t-shirt.  Well, actually this is your world...  You must've noticed... C lear morning with 15 miles visibility and weak onshore winds.  The air temp was 68.3 and the water is 70.5, but we went swimming anyway, because the surf is crappy and it seemed like a good idea at the time.  Jetski held towels.  Low tide was at 8:12am +2.3' and high tide follows at 2:56pm +5.2'.  We have a south swell out of 180ยบ and even though it's 3' it wouldn't matter if it were 10' because we would still have 1' to 2' little tumblers... "F lies" on the farthest west of the South Shore Oahu (#2).  Clear as gin water, not crowded and an easy paddle out.  The trifecta!  (#3) is the jump off spot for Flies.  The last three steps are slicker than snot.  WAY slipperier!  No one makes it both out and then back in unscathed... Lost Boys & Co... J etski's new whip, "The Rubleskaya" (#1) made it's debut a couple of weeks ago.  Tarzan and the Professor added a front wheel drive and an ammo box to neatly store all of the bikes electronics.  It's good to over 20mph!  The addition of a "Dick's Sporting Goods" basket and some distressed paint finished the look...  Note:  Design faux pas, turns out this is a Chinese star and not a Russian star!  Only Jetski would've noticed...   F oggies this morning with a slight onshore breeze, but not enough to make it rippled.  The air temperature was 64.9 and the water is a pleasant 70.5.  Low tide was at 7:16am +1.7' and high tide rises to it's own level at 1:51pm +5.4'.  We have a too south SSW swell out of 208ยบ at 3' and it was only 2' in Hermosa the Beach... " W aitress, a napkin!"  (#2) The Professor doodling some designs for a "Life Saving Model."  Coconut headlamps are the big attraction.
