Remember September 11, Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

There's a hidden gem in Honolulu down on Waimanu St. back in the factory district.  It's the "Brewseum" and it's a museum dedicated to WWII (#1).  They begin at Pearl Harbor and carry on through the war.  Your host and curator is Glenn Tomlinson and he dresses as Gen. Douglas MacArthur and he is also the bartender at the upstairs speakeasy bar (#2).   Wednesday night is trivia night and you can test your trivial skills with some of the local intelligentsia...

Partly cloudy skies and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the SE by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 62.0 and the water is 71.6.  High tide was at 9:15am +4.5' and low tide was at 2:34pm +1.9'.  There is a SW swell out of 205º at 3.3'.  That was translated into 3' to 5' waves and some good rides by all present...

Out on the west side at Pililaau, Miloe and the Professor scored some good waves for a couple of hours and shortly after retired to the Beach House Bar and Grill to replenish their electrolytes.  The Professor chose the signature Bloody Mary (#3) which included what appears to be lunch and a fair amount of alcohol...  We were made aware that it was an award winning cocktail...  Damn straight, the index finger says it all!

So you pass Waianae, then Makaha, Makaha Valley, Yokohama Bay and then head for Kaena Point.  Finally you get to the end of the road (#4).  Now, you can hike around the point, but it's hot and arid and if you're not careful you run into the Albatross sanctuary and then about 4 miles to the North Shore...  A bit easier to double back and go through the middle of the island, thank you...

Patrick Malloy's this week for your Happy Hour pleasure...  We'll let Patrick know you're coming...  The weather is still pretty nice and there's plenty of summer left for our amusement...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
