Lost Boys & Co... (Photos 1 & 2)  T his is only half the story...  In fact this is the second half of the story...  You do know that this only happens when the surf is knee high and low tide...  Julian now is one step closer to understanding surf dynamics... 12 miles visibility and partly cloudy skies.  Winds were onshore by 5.0kts and the sea surface had a light bump.  The air temp was 70.0 and the water at the buoy was 70.9, while Hermosa Pier registered 75!  Low tide was at 6:57am 0.0' and high tide will follow at 1:34pm +4.7'.  We have a shifting SSW swell out of 200º at 2.6' and that was just about it in the shorebreak this morning... W hy is this man laughing?  (#3)  Probably because he likes the hummus at Greenbelt AND the pizza bread that comes with it...  Personally, we like the sangria...  Red please!  5:30pm on Friday for your happy hour giggles... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

O ur woman of the hour Jah Morgan talks her bf KimberlySuds into this nice little roller just under the pier (#1).  Kimmy hasn't been surfing too long and got some nice ones to celebrate Jah's second year in a row of surfing everyday!  S o, the old saw is that "practice makes perfect."  We're thinking that there's something to that as Morgan gets a casual little ten (#2).  They say that it takes 10,000 hours to really get proficient at something.  Obviously Jah is putting in her time...   Lost Boys & Co... S o this weekend we've had some pretty good surf.  On Saturday, Hermosa Pier was host to the Pirate Hooker event.  Either the first or second annual, depending on what you thought last year's feeble attempt rated.  This year there were around 25 hearty souls who made it their business to bring pirate consciousness to the desperate and lonely citizens of the South Bay...  There was a costume event, a surf and a prolonged water battle that ended with a fabulous repast at Brother's Burrito Harbor...  We'll be sharing some pics all this week... #1 We have "Down-the-Line" Caroline abandoning ship as her foamy was shot from underneath her.  It was either shot  OR it hit a depth charge...  We may never know... #2   Adam charging on this right hander, delivering a stinging musket shot to Capt. Jah Morgan's backside...  Actually a brilliant tactical maneuver, she couldn't properly sit for the duration... #3   Capt. Jah Morgan, reloading

We Need Better Weaponry Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... F rom what we could tell, the only problem this July 4th was that we really needed some more sophisticated weaponry.  Some of the crew went down to Balboa to celebrate the 4th and catch the boat parade with Marty Burke Jr. and his lovely wife Rhonda.  We weren't prepared for the conflagration that greeted us on the ride home!  As near as we could tell, all of the cities that border the 405 were shooting off their star-spangled salutes - directly over the freeway!  Actually, Julia and the Professor swear they saw a rocket come flying down the freeway before it arced over and out of the northbound middle lane!  In photo #1 we have the Professor before his ill-timed run to the nose (photo credit: Paddle Me Weekly ) B lue skies this morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the south at 5.2kts and the sea surface was lightly chopped.  The air temperature was 64.3 and the water is 65.5.  High tide was at 8:47am +3.5' and low tide will be at 1:27pm
