Back On Track Tuesday Suf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"Flew into LA from over the pole, riding on a big jetliner..."  Kinda funny when you're up there.  You leave Amsterdam and there's water for about 20 minutes, then England (which actually looked just fine from the air, as opposed to how it is to be there) then water for ten minutes, then Ireland, then water, then all that polar stuff (already not too much ice and a lot of brown dirt,) then water, then Philadelphia.  And it only took 8 hours...  Then 5 more to home, over the patchwork quilt of the homeland.  Looked peaceful, green and serene...  from 35,000 feet anyway...

But a month ago...

Gidget and Suzi arriving in the Amsterdam train station.  They were trading the train for bicycles!  We pedaled around the "Diamond City" during our stay, which was the best way to get around...

Overcast this morning with clearing skies and 5 miles visibility.  Winds were light onshore at about 2.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 68.0 and the water is 69.4 at the buoy.  Low tide was at 10:20am +1.0' and high tide was at 5:13pm +5.3'.  We have a SSW swell out of 206º at 3.0' and it was 1' to 2' on the beach for your surfing pleasure...

Lifting our luggage to the room on the 4th floor, which to us was the 5th floor, since they don't count the floor you come in on...  This is how they did it in 1569, so they figured if it worked then they can add a little electricity and make it work now...   Out in front was "our" canal the Herengracht.  This was at medium tide.  At high tide you can walk straight on to the boats...
