Wild Oats Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here we have Jetski (photo #1) giving a seminar on the proper method of applying wax to a surfboard.  He has obviously found and eager and enthusiastic student in the Professor (photo #2).  The Professor said, "You know after all these years you kinda get into a rut on the application of wax.  Like little circles or broad swipes across the board.  The "Vishnevsky Method®" incorporates the diagonal application, leading to increased grip and a aesthetically pleasant finish.  I will use it on all my boards!"  (photos:  René Evette for Wax-On Quarterly)

Cloudy this morning and it even looked like it might rain.  Winds were out of the SE by 6.0kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 58.3 and the water was 61.0 at the buoy but felt a bit colder in the lineup.  High tide was at 10:12am +4.0' and low tide will be at 3:27pm +1.4'.  We have a west swell out of 276º at 3.6' and it looked a tad bigger in the water.  We're calling it 3' to 5' and pretty fun...

High above Topaz Bay on the drone "Sensei."  Amazing what a little altitude will do!  (photo:  Joey Anderson for Deluxe Dronage)

A tourist asks our Portagee boat captain:  "Why do scuba divers always fall backwards off the boats?"  He replied:  "If they fell forward, they'd still be in the boat."

This weeks happy hour will be at Laurel Tavern, in the Oral Cavern Suite.  5:30pm will guarantee that you don't miss any of the scintillating conversation or that they run out of rum.  No, it's never happened before, but there's always a first time!

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
The Professor!!
