Tofu Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Last night was our last night at "Mun's Corner Pub" on the Redondo International Boardwalk.  It all started years ago when the spot was "Louie Louey's" and we went there with the lifeguard crowd to watch Monday Night Football.  It was Mexican food and then Anthony bought it and started making Vietnamese cuisine.  Even though it was Anthony's we kept on calling it Louie Louey's.  The Mun bought it, called it the Corner Pub and started adding Korean dishes!  She kept all the menu items that went before so no one had to give up their favorite dishes.  Of course we still called it Louie Louey's, but Mun gave everything her own special flavor.  A couple of weeks ago her husband Alvin had a stroke and she decided to call it quits.  The stress of taking care of Al and running a restaurant was getting to be too much.  There's also the pier redevelopment, so it was the best time to bail.  We wish her the best and hold a lot of fond memories of our meals there.

Everyone is on a quest, whether they admit it or not.  Jetski (shown here in photo #1) has found his power spot and absorbs the vibrations of the universe before taking a dip in the wild Pacific.  The cones weren't his idea, but belong to UtiliQuest, his support crew and energy provider...

Hazy, smoky skies this morning and 15 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 3.7kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 54 and the water is 68.0.  Low tide was at 6:50am +2.9' and high tide will be at 1:31pm +4.5'.  We have a SSW swell out of 199º at 2.3' and it was about that big in the shorebreak...

The Professor inserts himself into the discussion (#2) of the best way to remove the cover over Jetski's power spot.  Apparently all of those vibrations have conspired to weld it to the ground.  It turns out they didn't need any muscle, they needed spiritual guidance.  In his role as guru and swami he assisted Tony, Ray and Mike in removing the recalcitrant cover...

Finally, we welcome the charming Leigh Maneri, from Wicked Productions to the morning crew.  She has come from a far away place to do a study on our culture and the ways of our simple, but beautiful people.  She appeared to be slightly overwhelmed by her initial contact, but we took her surfing and she took to it like a lifer.  In fact we think she was leading us on and is really a professional surfer sent to spy on us from Malibu...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
