Wait, It's Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Yes!  Those are the snow covered Pyrenees in the background (#1).  You have sharp eyes and this was the view that we enjoyed as we floated into Barcelona...  And yes, Barcelona does have surf (and an over the top surf shop) but we'll get to that later!

Surf still continues to be small and it's gray and overcast.  Not much wind and the sea surface still looks a little bumped.  The air temp was 64.6 and the water is 65.5.  Low tide was at 10:53am +1.4' and high tide follows at 5:51pm +4.8'.  We have a 2.6' SSW swell out of 199º and it was 0' to 1' and poor to worse...

One of the big attractions in Barcelona is all of the Antonio Gaudi architecture.  As if his architecture isn't enough, some of his decorative elements are pure fantasy.  #2 is a chimney... Yes, that's a chimney.  He used tile, pottery, metal, plaster and found objects to create this other-worldly look.  The amazing thing is that he was doing this around 1900!  It still looks crazy, but at the time it was unbelievable...

This bat-inspired weather vane (#3) was pretty cool.  Gave us pause to think of all the alternative solutions there are to things like weather vanes, supporting columns and gates...

If you were a builder and you were working with Gaudi, you had your work cut out for you!  Look at these balconies (#4), they are part of the "Casa Battio."  Not a straight line in the bunch.  Then over on the "Street of Discord" (#5) you have the "Casa Vicens."  All of the supporting columns look like bones...

It's going to be "Greenbelt" for la hora feliz this week...  Dress warmly, it's summer in Hermosa...  5:30pm.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
The Professor!!
