Lost Boys & Co...
Big Sam's Funky Nation was the headliner at the Hermosa Concert Series last night. Turns out the MC was none other than Maleko Cole and he did a bully job of introducing the main event and plugging the sponsors. Our first shot shows some revelers getting down with the funky N.O. sounds - looks like LoLa, Sugar Zahn and Liz Stro! Meanwhile, Monette Thomann, was capturing the sun going down between the pilings. This, of course, was the only time the sun came out the entire day... just in time to go down...
Foggy (duh!) this morning with visibility ranging from ¼ to ½ mile. Oh yeah, it was overcast too. Winds added to the mix by blowing onshore from daybreak and hitting around 5.4kts at checkout. The sea surface was tacked up. The air temperature was 54.9° and the water was 60.3° at the buoy, but felt about 64 in the surfline. Low tide was at 6:33am +2.4' and high tide will be at 1:13pm +5.6'. The buoy is reading a 199° SSW swell at 2.6'. We're calling it 1' to 2' with an occasional fatter set wave.

Damian, Sting, Danger Boy, the Professor and One-Nut Mike are watching the whales on Sunday morning. They are oohing and ahhing and trading binoculars and generally being impressed with the whole thing. Suddenly, this red haired woman appears and says something like, "My name is Heather ________ and I see that you guys are watching the whales, so I can assume that you have some interest in this. Do you know why they are here?" (The guys look at each other like they're expecting a trick question and shrug.) Then she starts to yell, "THEY'RE HERE BECAUSE THEY'RE USUALLY AROUND SANTA BARBARA AND THE NAVY IS USING THEM FOR TARGET PRACTICE! I HAVE PROOF! I HAVE VIDEO! AND IF YOU GO WHALE WATCHING YOU'LL JUST BE SCARING THEM BACK UP TO WHERE THE NAVY CAN FINISH THEM ALL OFF! At this point she's crying and yelling and jumping up and down in a accelerated case of the fantods. "YOU DON'T CARE - THIS IS USELESS!!" And she goes stomping off across the street. The guys just look at each other - someone says, "krill."
Some folks missed an absolutely great gathering on Friday evening at Samba. But if you missed it, you have a chance to catch this week's soiree at Keegan's where Boomfwappa and the Missing Links will be playing for you listening and Keegaling pleasure. 5:30pm at the Buffalo Fire Dept. and the music starts at 7pm back at Keegan's.
