This Is Your Captain Speaking Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

After a few months hiatus, Urbanos reopened last night as the 6th St. Tavern.  Just luck that we were in the area and dropped in.  Met up with Mike Leko and he gave us the lowdown on the new concept.  Simply put:  Great drinks and amazing bar food.  It's like not even bar food.  LoLa had cured salmon on toast (cured in-house) and the Professor had to share a club sandwich which featured duck confit, ham, field greens, and some kinda designer mustard.  He claimed it was the best sandwich he had ever eaten.  Dude, we gotta go!  (Corner of 6th & Hope.)

More spring in that weather with few clouds and maybe 10 miles visibility under a hazy sun.  Winds were calm at 7am and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 58.5˚ and the water is waxing hopeful at 59.7˚ (can 60 be far away?)  High tide was at 9:56am +4.4' and low tide will follow at 3:21pm +0.9'.  We still have a SSW swell out of 206˚ at 2.3' and it's not even breaking at high tide.

For those of you who might be remotely interested, we've started using the weather information from the King Harbor website at http://mykhyc.org/khycweather/.   It includes wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, temperature, moon phase and sunrise/sunset times.  This, of course, is to get the closest information available to your database...  Use it wisely...
