Storm Watch Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

After the local news people scared the shit out of everyone about the impending "Killer Storm" we ended up with almost enough rain to open some of the drains.  One of the ones that did pop in spectacular fashion was the outfall next to the Chart House.  They forgot to clear the sand in front of the drain and it blew sideways to the north.  It created a black lagoon from 1st St. to 4th St.  By the time we got there, it was percolating through the sand and leaving this swath of smelly black detritus on the beach.  That was the bad news.  The good news was that the black water never got to the ocean, so it was relatively clean!

Clear skies this morning, with 20+ miles visibility and winds out of the northeast by 7.3kts.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air was a relatively chilly 57.2˚ and the water was 68.9˚ and felt 70.  High tide was at 6:15am +5.8' and low tide will be at 12:36pm +0.5'.  With the full moon this week there'll be some excellent tidal swings, so hold on to your hat.  We had a WSW swell out of 252˚ at 2.6', but it seemed better than that and we're calling it 3' to 4' and some of the best morning waves we've seen in months.  Ask Kris Hall...

More good news - cool rainbow.  It turns out that we never talked to anyone who had actually seen it rain.  People said they heard it and there were puddles and such, but no one actually got wet...  We're investigating...
