Trying To Be Composed Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So here (#1) we have Jah and LoLa on the start of their hike through the coastal redwoods.  Together with Mr. Christian they must've covered 5 to 7 miles and ended up back on the road half-way to Crescent City.  There was some bushwhacking involved, but despite the barbed wire everything was cool...  (Note:  Surfers cannot read "No Trespassing" signs)

Officially June gloom with a heavy overcast and 5 to 7 miles visibility.  Winds died down around surf time and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was 60.0º and the water is holding at 62.6º.  Low tide was at 9:47am -0.1' and high tide was at 5:03pm +4.2'.  We had a small SW swell out of 225º at 2.6' and it was 2' to 3' with some fun little zippers south of the pier...

The coastal redwoods or the "Semper Virens" (#2) variety is taller than the type we find in Sequoia, the "Gigantia" variety, but they aren't as big around.  Still, both are majestic and you have to be pretty picky to decide which one is the most picturesque.  We say it's a tie...

A couple of "Sea Stacks."  (#3)  They look easily accessible until you paddle up to one of them and realize their size and how steep they are.

Our buddy Danny translated our new sweatshirt (#4) for us (since our Katakana is a bit rusty.)  It says "I'm going back to the wave."  Thanks to JRS and the Boise crowd for the cool (warm) gift!
