Next Year A Garibaldi Costume Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Somehow we neglected to print Kevin Gilligan's photo (#1) of the "Spooky Surf" crew.  From L. to R. we have Burnsy, Toph, Scout and Zac as tourists who didn't know that it was against the law to bring your dog to the beach.  So someone called Superman (Aaron) to come down and spirit them away.  But before the "Man of Steel™" could concentrate on the doggie he got distracted by using his X-Ray vision to not only see through Anuba's and C-Missle's clothes, but down to their bones!  Jah Minion came to hang five with the Unicorn/Seahorse/Christiano.  No wait, Christiano was there with the Tin Man (Larry Dairy) and Psychedelic "Doc" Einstein.  A curious crew, but fun and funny...  Next year we're thinking a Garibaldi costume...

There were more Garibaldi in the harbor than we saw at Catalina!  It was clear enough to see them because the sun was shining bright and the winds were offshore 3 to 4kts, leaving the surface unrippled.  The air temp was 59.0º and the water is 63.9º.  Low tide early at 5:25am +3.2' and high at 12:00pm +5.4'.  It's a weak SW swell out of 226º at 2.6' and it was 1' and poor...

Note:  We mentioned looking for a tidal bore on the Nile.  We decided to dig a bit deeper, but still no documentation of a Nile Tidal Bore!  In fact there is no documentation of any bores in Africa at all!  We're not sure if the tidal fluctuations of the Mediterranean aren't significant enough to create bores in Northern Africa, if the delta is too wide (although the Amazon is a huge delta and it has them) or if no one's bothered to look.  WE ARE GOING TO LOOK!  Sancho!  Where are our pith helmets!
