Final Fifties Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"And how do people get around in the great San Joaquin?"  We're glad you asked!  Our first example is a pumped up Ford.  Perfect for heading to the mountains for skiing and fishing, maybe some light off-roading.  Then we have John Conway's ride "To Hell and Back."  The back seats are skeletons and the rib cages are the sub-woofers.  When you crank it up the hearts beat in time to the music.  It's an incredible piece of work, but we're not quite sure what you do with it.  It's too tricked out to drive (one kid with a nail would ruin your ten grand paint job) and you can't really carry anything in it.  He shows it in custom car shows and he now has a bunch of trophies.  Maybe he could sell it to Forest Lawn?  Finally, we have this rather emaciated lad on his skateboard.  This is what smoking will do to you...  Oh yeah, and always wear a helmet.

High clouds this morning with 15 miles visibility.  Winds started out on-shore and then dialed way back to 2.5kts from the southwest.  A slight tack on the sea surface.  The air temp was 56.1° and the water is still chilly at 56.7° (our regrets to Miloe, who is now refusing to go in until it warms up.)  High tide is at 11:10am +3.7' and low tide will follow at 3:39pm +2.1'.  The 46221 buoy is reading a SSW swell out of 197° at 3.6'.  We didn't find it that big this morning at Topaz, but there were some nice 2' to 3' butt slappers.

Now hear this:  Kiana has been clued in to the Chart House Happy Hour; attractive bar menu, not sure what, if any deal there may be on ethanol infused beverages, but what the heck.  I think the Pavements are going to try to make the Beach Cities Symphony closing concert [it's at ElCo and it's free cept for 2 bux for parking] of the season this friday soir; but lets gather for awhile prior to that @ Chart House?
(Okay, 5pm in the bar.  See if you can get out without a piece of mud pie...  Ed.)
