Misty Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here's looking out over a blue Topaz Bay, with just a tinge of the surreal arcing across the firmament.  Since we can't keep that up, here's bringing you back to reality with a little graffito closeup on the LG tower.  As near as we can tell it was done by a band of pygmy taggers lead by Li'l Blue, along with Li'l Grumpy and Li'l Chapo.  We stand in solidarity with them for the release of Roy (we can only guess they mean Li'l Roy) from downtown, where he's awaiting trial on charges of car jacking an OSH truck full of spray paint.  Until then, felt pens rule!

Rain, drizzle and mist are the order of the day.  Winds are already out of the west by a soft 2.3kts and the sea surface has the slightest tack to it.  The air temperature is 56.1° and the water is 58.3°.  Low tide kicks off the day at 6:47am -0.9' and high tide is at 1:42pm +3.4'.  The buoy is reading a SSW swell out of 200° true at 2.6'.  Since there's so much south in the mix, we're getting about 1' of that swell and the rest is heading out north of us (maybe Malibu?)  All in all, it's looking gray, feeling cold and the waves are small.  Kinda turns the stoke right down to chill...  We will...

Then there's the mail:

My question is to Farmer John. Why is there no farmer's market report when you are there every Thursday(BB) Not DB
Bonnie Burt
(The farmer is there almost every Thursday, picking out his produce, liverwurst, French bread and corn nuts for the week.  It is with some trepidation that we recall the "Portagee Farm Report" from our trip to the Azores a few years ago and we are a little reluctant to reprise that item.  However, that might be, we are not afraid and we'll ask the farmer (actually Joao, not John) to submit a report.   Ed.)

Thanks to the oil spill there's not a lot of surfing going down here on the "dirty coast" but Grand Isle has been known to go off.  Otherwise the mudbugs are still in season and plentiful. Taking it all in in the Big Easy this weekend with a Tulane graduation for our "baby".  Can I get through the weekend without a Hurricane from Pat O'Brien's? A Pimm's cup from The Napoleon House? A Sazerac from the Roosevelt?
Probably not.
Big Wave D

(Have one for us while you're at it and congratulations to the "baby"!!  ... Ed.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
