Permanent Wave Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Things you have to do today:  1. Get the calendar  2. Find May 4th (look under Friday)  3. Write on the calendar in the May 4th box:  Kincaid's, 5pm, Danger Boy retirement get-together.  An easy way to remember is now you have something to do before Cinco de Mayo...

Another typical gray spring morning with 10 miles visibility under cloudy, overcast skies.  Winds were onshore at checkout by 4.1kts and the sea surface had a less than a light chop.  The air temperature was 58.3° and the water is 59.9°.  High tide is at 7:01am +4.2' and low tide drains the dragon at 12:59pm +0.6'.  The buoy has a hopeful 3.6' swell out of 199° SSW, but it's still not turning the corner enough for our high standards.  It looks in the 1' to 2' range and the lowering tide might help things if the wind doesn't mess it up.   If this keeps up we might have to go to Malibu...

Mark Janicich cut his hair.  Most of you know Mark "the Pool Man" and recognize him by his long flowing locks.  No more.  It took his niece to convince him that he should try a new look and to tell the truth it looks pretty good!  We can't imagine it'll make him any faster in the water, since he already goes pretty damned fast, but it makes him look faster.  (A file photo featuring long locks, waves and cutbacks...)
