Lost Boys & Co...

For some reason, this perfectly ordinary photograph looks like a cartoon.  Well, we can assure you it's not.  Maybe because the new bikepath (as evidenced by this stretch across from the Edison Co.) is a bright green with solar yellow dotted lines.  Whatever.  Looks like it will be open in time for summer and your biking pleasure.  If it doesn't cause retinal damage...

Partly cloudy skies this morning with 20+ miles visibility, although not quite enough to see the buffaloes on Catalina clearly.  Winds were out of the WSW at 3.1kts and the sea surface had a bit of glassy roll.  The air temp was 57.8˚ and the water persists in remaining around 60.8˚.  Actually, Boris wore booties this morning, not because he needed them, but because he liked the idea of booties.  Low tide was at 6:35am -0.6' and high tide will follow at 1:21pm +3.8'.  We have a west swell out of 263˚ at 3.0' and it was 2' to 4' and there were some nice ones if you were in the right place, like Captain Donnie seemed to be...

This photo was taken early on a balmy Havana morning with a foursome consisting of Fidel Castro, Ché Guevara, Roberto Cienfuegos and Raul Castro.  The dialog went something like this:

Fidel:  Ché can't you see this hole breaks to the right?

Ché:  Wait a second, it's still rolling...

Roberto:  You got it Ché baby...

Raul:  Look at your right elbow Ché, your crimping your style!

Ché:  Shut up!  It's still rolling...  This is the elbow I twisted in the battle at the barracks.  Luis!  Lift the pin...

Roberto:  Sure, before that you were driving 20 yards further!

Fidel:  Not a chance!  Does your husband play as well?

Ché:  Very funny, you're lucky you're the Supreme Commandanté or no one would laugh at your jokes.  And by the way Cienfuegos and I are 6 under.

Raul:  5 under...  But I believe El Supremo is 7 under!
(Fidel lifts his chin and examines his nails, brushing them on his fatigues, the others shift uneasily from foot to foot)

Ché:  Look!  It dropped in!

Raul:  I didn't see anything...

Roberto:  Of course you don't see anything, it dropped in the hole you moron...

Fidel:  No, I believe it rolled off the green...  Isn't that it over there... (When everyone looks, Fidel jumps down and takes the ball out and throws it in the rough)  No, over there...

Ché:  You're kidding me...  You tried that same trick on #6!

Fidel:  It matters not.  I'm tired of this capitalist game!  Imagine all the sugar cane we could grow on this land!
(That was on Sunday, by Tuesday all of the golf courses in Cuba had been taken over by the government and turned into cane fields.  Ché was sent to South America, Cienfuegos left in his airplane and was never heard from again and Raul now runs all the cane fields...)
