Money, Money, Money Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

A panorama of the Hotdogger Championship last Saturday.  It was quite a bit more successful than the organizers imagined and some of our Lost Boys & Co. participated in the inaugural event...

We don't do this very often, but this is kind of a special circumstance.  The Redondo High Surf Team is the only team on campus that doesn't levy a charge on the parents and athletes for the program.  They raise money for jackets, changing robes, backpacks and the like through donations from the community (and the parents and aunts and uncles and... possibly you!)  If you wish to donate or see what it's all about, I've attached the web site:
There's no obligation and they rely on the generosity of folks like you.  You might remember when you or your kids were in school and you had to sell cookies, work the concession stand or sell raffle tickets.  It's not so much fun to ask, but if you donate you get to say you supported the Redondo High Surf Team.  When you're talking to your snow-bound relatives in the East, it sounds pretty outrageous!  I know you guys like outrageous...  Thank you!  Coach Frank

Partly cloudy this morning, with no chance of meatballs.  20+ miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 6.5kts and the sea surface was softly brushed smooth.  The air temperature was 62.5˚ and the water was 72.9˚.  High tide was at 5:53am +4.1' and low tide will be at 10:52am +2.8'.  We have a west swell out of 260˚ at 2.6' and it was a pretty fast 2' to 3' and got marginally better as the tide rose...  Still need some better sandbars...

On the beach, cheering our faves on were Rasta Pete, Captain Morgan (Day 76), Sarah, Mike Leko and Mike McCoy...  A great day on the beach...
