Y'all It's Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

#1  You know how your friend tells you, "I'm going down to Nicaragua and the people there need clothes, so if you have some stuff that's in good shape that you want to get rid of, please get it to me so I can take it down there."  Well, despite all the good intentions, don't send your "BITE ME" t-shirt, because some hapless Nicaraguan (like the lady pictured) will wear it...  Also, unfortunately, don't send any cool stuff for the kids, like surfboards, because their parents will take them and sell them.  The surfboards, usually not the kids...  You have to send the good stuff to surf schools or someone who's watching over this...

Some of the cool shots that we've been posting were taken from this second story perch at the La Barra compound (#2).  When Jetski got urchin-punctured and took a day off, he busied himself taking some of the cool shots that we've been posting...

Clear cold skies this morning with 20+ miles visibility and a 9.8kt wind out of the NNW.  Seas are rough.  The air temperature is 44.9 and the water is 57.0.  High tide will be at 5:41am +5.1' and low tide is a -0.5' at 12:58pm.  Go clam digging.  We have a west swell out of 267º at 3.9' and it was 3' to a chopped up 5'...  A bit too bumped and too cold for a fun session...  unless you're serious, then go for it...

Here (#3) we have our photographer at the training table munching on a lobster stuffed with shrimp in cheese sauce.  The menu at La Barra is skewed toward feeding the 18 to 25 year-old surf warrior.  If three huge meals a day are your idea of how you want to roll (and surf) then you're going to be in heaven.  That is opposed to the food-coma the rest of ourselves found ourselves in.  We were gone for three weeks after La Barra and it took us that entire time and a bout of "touristas" to lose the weight we gained...  But it was good!

Wednesday evening we celebrated year 3 of Jetski's surf saga (#4).  Fueled by sushi, saki and this cool dessert tower we regaled him and his achievements!  Onward...

Yes, it does rain in Southern California.  Last Thursday, Julian and the Professor (#5) finally decide that it WAS raining too hard to hit the surf.  They do get points on rain gear and Julian's ride scores extra on any scale...
