Art Imitating Life Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Or is it "Life Imitating Art?"  (#1) What we do know is that the girl with the pearl earring is going to remove Vincent's ear If he doesn't stop staring at Mona...  Maybe with her pearly white teeth...

Drizzling this morning and a fine example of what "May Gray" looks like.  2 miles visibility and winds are onshore by 3kts, roughing up the sea surface creating some texture.  The air temperature is 63.0 and the water is 60.3.  High tide is at 7:48am +3.9' and low tide will be at 1:33pm +1.0 and if you're beach combing remember to keep moving.  We have a SW swell out of 215º at 3.9' and it's 2' to 3' with some 4' outsides, but bumpy and a bit rough.  The wind is forecasted to increase and blow through tomorrow...  We'll be checking it...

#2  The Bubble never fails to give us a reality check...  As far as being in the bubble, Hermosa looked like Fourth of July this weekend.  The streets were packed, people were up and down the beach (for the most part moving and being active) and everyone appeared to be looking for some place to sit and eat.  Lots of folks not wearing masks, which was a bit disconcerting...  If this keeps up and the virus cases spike, they'll be closing us down again...  Meanwhile, behaving responsibly is always a good idea...

Jah Morgan (#3) reports that riding the shark isn't the hardest part of this exercise...  It's more like jumping off without being impaled by the dorsal fin...  Actually, getting on in the first place requires some skill.  We expect to get a full report when she and Mr. Christian return...

Finally, we feature this great shot (#4) of a pupil in the Surf Project, in the Netherlands, where our friend Marieke Van Bragt is an instructor.  She and her colleagues have been doing great work with people with Down's syndrome and other different abilities.  The joy of being in the water is apparent here and the simple act of wearing a seaweed mustache always gets a laugh...  We are so lucky to be able to share our stoke!
