In Hot Pursuit Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Next time there's a car chase on TV, feel free to use this handy-dandy "Pursuit Bingo" (#1) to liven up the proceedings.  We've only seen this one card, but to make it fun you have to have a number of variations so that everyone doesn't win with the same items.  A few of our favorites are:  Mall Involved, Animal in Car, Barefoot, Part of Vehicle Falls Off and Pretends to Surrender.  HEY...  BINGO!

Another gray day with 7 miles visibility and overcast skies.  Not so much wind as yesterday, blowing softly at 1 to 2kts, with a little texture on the water.  The air temperature was 59.3 and the water is 62.4 making it feel more like April than July.  High tide was at 5:00am +3.3' and low tide will be at 10:09am +1.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 198º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3' and Doc ? and the Professor managed to get a few nuggets through all of the gray...

Another one of our favorite photographers is Brendan Simmons (#2) shown here ripping a little left hander.  When not doing traffic control for Fox Sports or surfing around the globe, he's shooting some breathtaking photos of wherever he happens to be at the moment.  During the pandemic, he took some dramatic drone footage of the Southern California landscape sans people.  It was at once eerie, poignant and gave us a look at what it might be like if everyone moved to Idaho or Colorado...

A week ago Jah Morgan celebrated her 5th year of surfing every day.  Here she is (#3) with a group of admirers and the board shaped by José that included most of the drawings that celebrated each day of her first year's journey.  She decided that for year five it was time to take that bad-girl out and catch some waves...

We were perplexed by reports coming from Boise, that Boomfwappa and the Professor were in the studio (#4) together...  But it turns out that the rumors were true and they were taping "House of Paine" for future release.  Originally slated for three hours they took four and still had a lot going at the end.  Engineered by Nathan Fast, he was at once fascinated, frightened and had absolutely nothing in his years of radio to compare it too...  Asked if he was ready to do another session, Boomfwappa said, "Nooooo..."  The Professor was reluctant in his observations, but suggested that radio would still survive, despite the damage they had inflicted...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
