Watch Out For That Tree Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Gack!  Look at that brown air out there!  The fact that it's out there is little consolation when you know it's going to blow back over here in just a few hours.

Being that all of that smog is out over the ocean we currently have clear skies and unlimited visibility.  Winds are out of the NE by 1.9kts and the sea surface is glassy.  The air temperature at checkout was a brisk 54.5°, while the water was a bit warmer at 62.1°.  High tide was really high at 8:27am +6.5' and low tide is really low at 3:46pm -0.7'.  A good day to walk along the wet sand or explore the tide pools.  It's good for those things because there's almost no surf.  The buoy is reading a 1.6' swell out of 211° SSW and we're calling it basically flat.

But there's good news in the weather report!  A cold front will spread rain and cooler weather into northern California today. Rain will spread as far south as San Francisco by tonight before running into an area of high pressure that will put an end to rainfall reaching areas farther south.  The next storm system to target the West will take a more southerly track as the jet stream dives across central California. This will lead to an increased chance for wet weather Friday into Saturday for areas from San Francisco to Point Conception. There will be a slight chance for a shower south of Point Conception, but Los Angeles and San Diego will probably have nothing more than some increased clouds from this storm system.  Take a look at the weather map of the eastern Pacific - there could be some waves in our future!

These were on "Texts From Last Night..."

(803): When i woke up this morning she asked me 'when did you first find out that you could see the future.' I gotta stop drinking.
(309): so, my congressman just called me to say he has office hours this week if i'm still interested in talking to him. i pray to god this is not related to Friday.

Finally, if you were worried about the logging industry going under because of the spotted owl we have good news.  We found a small, but dedicated band of lumberjacks right here in Southern California.  They go around chopping down trees and clearing the land so that the younger growth can pop up through the dense canopy above.  Here we have Xavier del Bosque, a third generation forester.  We asked him from where he hailed and he told us that he was from Sonora, Mexico.  We told him that we thought Sonora was mostly desert.  He said, "Well, it is NOW!"

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
