Lost Boys & Co...

Photo #1 this morning features Ché and Don Souther taking stock of this balsa board that was in the
rafters of Don's garage for 20 or so years.  The Professor offered to buy the board and took it over to the Becker factory.  Ché expertly removed the dirtied, ancient glass to reveal a core in remarkably good shape.  Once again, Ché is showing the Professor how to reshape and clean up the blank and make it ready to be glassed.   Needless to say, his attention to detail is impressive!  We'll keep you up-to-date on the progress of this wooden horse...

A little over a week ago we were sweltering in the heat and now it's raining.  Not that it's that unusual for this time of year, it's just the radical weather changes that make it so notable.  10 miles visibility under the cloudy, moisture laden skies.  Winds are calm and the sea surface is glassy and actually quite picturesque.  The air temperature at checkout was 59.3° and the water is 65.5°.  High tide was at 8:38am +6.1' and low tide will be at 2:55pm -0.0'.  Already up to a 6.1' tidal difference, going to a 7.4' on Friday.  The buoy is reading a 213° SW swell at 3.3'.  The tide is still high, so if you're brave enough to jump into the bacterial soup, you might want to wait until it drops a bit more.  Right now we're calling it 2' to 3'.  Of course the rain and it's runoff always raises the question about how long we should wait before hitting the surf.  You can be sure Danger Boy will go the whole 72 hours.  The Coach, he'll do 48 and then maybe you can talk him into it if it's really good.  The Professor will give it 24 hours and then look at it.  Face it, you don't want chunks floating around out there, do you?...

Spectacular sunset the other evening and we're still trying to capture the "green flash."  We pushed the levels on this shot and discovered there was only a 5% difference in the color between the original shot and this enhanced pic.  So we're thinking the atmosphere ought to be good for 5% sometime.  We keep lookin'...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
