You'll Be Sorry Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Last week we reported that Sandy Malpee had gotten a nasty note stuck on her car suggesting that she wasn't properly handicapped to be able to park in the disabled parking spot #1 right there on Topaz St. and the Esplanade.  So we're warning you - if you want to use surfing as any kind of therapy, you'd better not park there.  But Sandy, being smarter and a measure better humored, decided to throw a party in honor of the shortsighted (which sounds like a handicap to us, but not one you should have and drive.)  So armed with chips, snacks, coffee and various fun foods, Sandy and Edrina have camped in that spot for the entire day.  We joined them for a cup of coffee and some chips and gawked back at all the folks cruising by and wondering what was going on.  If you have a few minutes, drop by and join in the devilment.  It was remarkably satisfying...

Hazy, but sunny skies this morning and 20 miles visibility.  Winds were early out of the west by 2.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 63.2° and the water keeps trying at 66.0°.  Low tide was at 6:52am -0.3' and high tide is at 1:35pm +4.6'.  The buoy is reading a west swell out of 260° at 2.3', but we're thinking it's a little better and we'll call it 2' to 3', but you gotta believe...

Hi there Professor,
You and LoLa and Gidget must be up to  your eyeballs with linguica and company by this time on the 4th.  I'm thinking of you all and missing my friends in Cali on this holiday evening.  Visibility about about 25 miles, no wind from nowhere, and no detectable swell on the pond from my view in the living room, however the cows in the far away pasture are lowing and pretty damn noisey at that.
I'm writing to tell you of a surfboard that Harry has for sale (he's cash strapped to finish the remodel on the home he grew up in - but you never heard that from me).  It's a 10' Becker UFO.  Perfect condition as he's not surfed much in the last 7 years.  He's asking $500.00: I have no idea if that's a deal or not.  If it's not, but you know someone who might be interested, have them make an offer.  His cell # is 310.968.0308.
Over and out from Friday Harbor Washington, where the eagles fly high, the kids are smart, the men are strong, and the women make great "hot dishes."

Boomfwappa Warning: There's some bad linguica going around....don't eat the brown linguica...(uh...maybe it was something else that was bad)...can't remember...Boomfwappa says: ah...go ahead eat the linguica......!that's what Boomfwappa says

(It's all brown...  Ed.)

Happy Fourth....  Enjoy.
We are in Mississippi land.  Today visited the 5 costal towns hit the worst by Katrina.  I would say that about 10 percent has been rebuilt.  The trees are finally growing, lots of new ones and some of the big ones that were left that did not totally die, are growing at the tops.
Leave tomorrow for Orlando for a week of FN meetings.  Then back to LA

(Does "FN" mean what we think it does?   Ed.)

When you cook a piggy you tend to be left with a fair amount of smokin' hot coals.  The Professor decided that maybe he would see if you really can walk across coals barefooted.  Turns out that this was as far as he got.  Just then they told him that the Sailor Jerry's had arrived and he was called upon to assemble some Cuba Libre's.  Honestly, they didn't look like the right sort of coals, actually...  Viva Cuba...!

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
