Mud People Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Okay, we've been on surfari, for the last couple of weeks and been hangin' with the Portagee kids since our return.  But you'll be happy to know that we were busy doing important anthropological research while on our travels.  Yes!  Turns out we were the first to make direct contact with the "Mud People" of northwestern Mexico.  A primitive race of red/pink-skinned hominids, at one point they had a thriving culture in this part of Mexico.  Evidence of their existence has circulated for years, but these are the first documented photos!  #1.  Their chief, Wheat-Wheat, wearing the "mud-crest" that signals his rank.  Note how pink the skin is in the patches you can see around his eyes and lips.

A gorgeous summer day in the southland, with students being reeled back into the classroom, while Labor Day looms.  20+ miles visibility.  Winds were light out of the NW 315˚ at 1.2kts and the sea surface was mostly smooth.  The air temp was 73.5˚ and the water was 70.0˚.  Low tide was at 5:10am +0.8' and high tide followed early at 11:28am +5.0'.  We have a 4.6' swell out of the SSE 160˚ but because it has to turn so far it's 3.0' and a bit close.  None of the big stuff you've been seeing on the tube... or in the tube...

#2.  A small mud family hunting party.  The female on the left has had her forehead and chin cleaned by the chief who licks these areas with preternaturally long tongue.  He alone has the honor.  The female is known as the "Sam."  From L. to R.:  The Sam, Paca, BoBo, Wheat-Wheat and Thurston Maxwell III.  We gave them beers and they left us in peace.  You know, like simple child-like natives everywhere...
