Get Ready For The Rain Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"Hey Coach, thank you for letting me be yellow because now I match my surfboard!"

Cloudy this morning and the weather looked uncertain all morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds were persistent out of the SW at 5.7kts and the sea surface sported a light chop.  The air temp was 53.2 and the water is 58.8.  Low tide was at 5:57am +1.4' and high tide followed at 11:43am +4.6'.  We have a WSW swell out of 238º at 2.3' and it was 2' to 3' this morning.  It's supposed to be building, capping around 10' on Saturday afternoon.  Woo woo...

This (#2) is what is what is described as a "Nug" in surf terminology.  That would be short for a nugget.  And that would be a contraction of the phrase "gold nugget" to describe a really great wave, maybe one you don't often find.  Well, Joey went a couple of thousand miles to find this "nug" and allowed it was one of the best waves he's ever caught.  The only thing that could be better would be to have someone catch it on camera!

Flying low across Arkansas (#3) we discovered that there were a lot of turnoffs, but most of them didn't have any food, gas or lodging.  We kinda wondered why they put up the signs in the first place?  This particular example looks like they HAD services at one point and then they closed, or left, or couldn't pay the rent for the sign.  This was Exit 221.  On the Interstate, 221 means it's 221 miles to the state border.  "Put the hammer down Boomfwappa!"

It's still Samba for Happy Hour, until Mark tells us to head for higher ground...
