Take A Meteorologist To Lunch Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Yahoo, little buddy!  Nothing like a surf session on Lake Eufala, in Oklahoma.  This young thrasher looks prepared for any eventuality, considering the vest, comfort animal (with own personal vest) and what looks like a epoxy fish firmly under foot...  Great shot considering there must have been a boat at some point in this experience...  Oh yeah, except during tornado season...  On second thought, keep the vest on...

Who said it was supposed to rain this morning?  Come on, give us a break.  Although the wind was on by 1.9kts the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 55.1 and the water is holding at 59.0.  High tide was at 5:32am +4.7' and low tide was at 12:52pm +0.1'.  There will be minus tides for the rest of the month in the afternoons.  We have a WSW swell out of 252º at 4.6' and it was 4' to 6' depending on your location.

Across a wide swath of this country is, well... nothing, but there is a lot of wind.  Of course these days wind means a way to generate some electricity!  Through Oklahoma and Texas there are some HUGE wind farms and by huge we don't just mean they take up a lot of acreage.  They also feature windmills that are gigantic.  Look at the semi in photo #2.  It's virtually dwarfed by this windmill.  Thank goodness Don Quixote lived when he did.  You try tilting with one of these beasts and it'll knock you into Kansas...
