That's Transportation Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

For five thousand years-plus, they've been using donkeys to get around (#1) why change now?  Especially when the biggest obstacle you might encounter is a cow, at least the donkey understands cow mentality...  They don't agree with it, they just understand it...

Like the sign says, "We deliver any load, any size." (#2)

One word, "wind."  Started on-shore and got stronger.  The air temperature was 57.3 and the water is 59.7.  Low tide 6:48am +0.2' and high tide was at 1:10pm +3.2'.  We have a wild west swell out of 268º at 6.9' and it was 4' to 8' and pretty tumultuous...

Then there's the "Bicycle Rickshaw." (#3)  Especially in Delhi these are a popular means of transportation.  Motorized tuk-tuks are faster and can carry up to 5 or 6 people, but for the experience, bicycles are the way to go.  To demonstrate how crowded things get, we were in our own rickshaw going the other way down this lane when we snapped this pic...

Our personal favorite has to be the "roto-tiller-mobile." (#4)  You start with a roto-tiller.  Take the roto-tiller part off and leave the drive wheels and the steering arm.  Attach to a cart.  Take a piece of wire long enough to go from the throttle to your hand.  Crank it up and pull on the wire...  You're off!  We saw these on all roads and in various configurations, but this is the basic machine...

Laurel Tavern, Friday at 5:30pm.  Special guest.
