Sometimes On Saturday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Yesterday evening was the Surf Team Awards Banquet for Redondo High.

Just to re-cap briefly:

        Top Longboard Women:  Bridget Swift
She fought off injuries for part of the year, but remained a great competitor and top longboarder.

        Top Longboard Men:  Zach Siegel
There are various versions of how he made the surf team, but once he got on board, he was the man to              beat.  He surfs with the Familia and he's part of our crew!

        Top Shortboard Women:  Keani Honda-Snow
A fierce competitor with great style and poise.  Always the one all the other women had to beat!

        Top Shortboard Men:  Dylan Morrisroe
Determined and dedicated to his sport, he was consistent and technically outstanding.  One of the best             shortboarders our team has ever had, certainly at his age.

        Most Valuable:  Keani Honda-Snow
Racking up the most points of any team member, she is most often the first one to the beach and the first             one in the water.  Ready to surf in any conditions, she never complains if things aren't perfect.  You can tell             she loves to surf.

        Most Inspirational:  Asher Vollom
Every team needs something more than just putting numbers on the score sheets.  Asher lead with the kind             of heart every good team needs.  In the face of numerous tribulations, he rallied his teammates and showed             compassion, care and hope.

Finally, at the end of all the awards, the team presented Coach Avery and me custom Barahona surfboards! (#1)
Certainly overwhelming and generous gifts!  Thank you to all the parents and students who chipped in and made this such a memorable occasion.  But let's not stop.  Let's rally our team and be #1 in the league next year!
