McCall #3 Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We tuned in to watch Felipe Toledo take the Corona J-Bay Contest beating Ethan Ewing with some powerful frontside surfing.  Very impressive!  Imagining, while mind-surfing some of those near perfect waves, that some of our local talent would be right in the mix, including our longboarders!

Hazy sun this morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds are light onshore by 1 to 3kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air and water are a summer-like 67.1° and 68.2° (springers seem the best choice for rubber).  Low tide kicks off the morning at 5:32am -0.5' and high tide roars back in at 12:10pm +3.5'.  It's a SSW swell out of 209° at 2.0', bringing us 1' knee-knockers...

But those 6" to 8" ankle-slappers are just what Miss Scarlett needed to flip this bottom term (#1) before landing on the beach.  This was day #2 of the Professor's McCall Surf Camp.  Day #3 we work on aerials!
