Write-Off Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So for starters let's have 3 photos that don't have anything to do with each other!  Photo the first:  Almost impossible to figure out what we're looking at to begin with.  It looks like a shiny square hole with a girl laying next to it.  Well, actually, the girl is Allie Burke and the shiny hole is a wide screen TV, just prior to being installed at her friend's home.  They were so taken with it's size, that they were grasping for a unit to suggest how truly magnificent it was.  They settled on an "Allie," which would be right around 65" long.

Next the surf:  9 miles visibility under overcast skies.  No mistaking June here!  Winds were calm and the sea surface was smooth to a very light chop.  The air temperature was 59.3° and the water was 62.4°.  High tide was at 10:30am +4.0' and low tide will be at 3:08pm +2.0'.  The real kicker with the tides are sneaking up on us as the week proceeds.  We're sporting minus tides in the early mornings and by the weekend we should have some real dredgers for the morning sessions.  Tomorrow at 4:42am there's a -1.5' and that doesn't begin to fill in until 11:15 and then full at 10:08pm +6.5'.  In fact if you want to see some fine floating, head down to the harbor this evening around 9:30pm to see a +6.7' tide.  Nothing quite that high for a couple of months.  We have a SW swell out of 216° at 3.0'.  It's a weak 1' to 3' and depending on when you catch it, it might work or not...

Then in photo the second, we have exactly what it looks like.  Crazed adults with tots on a parachute tossing them into the air.  This is supposed to reorient their inner ears so that they feel comfortable in a variety of positions and is purported to lessen the effects of motion sickness and ennui.  Well, so is space travel and we don't advise that for 6 month olds either!  Fortunately, the ceiling was only eight feet high, but come summer they'll move outside and as they say, "The sky's the limit..."

Photo the third is the Idaho Penitentiary.  This part of the facility is no longer in use, but they can't tear it down because they built it too well.  Looks cool though...  And if you wanted to film a remake of the "Shawshank Redemption" we've got just the place for you...

Finally, to get out of your usual workout we suggest:
