Thorobred Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Who said, "The longest journey starts with the first step"?  Well, everybody says it, but actually it helps if you get plane reservations, spend hours in airports and exercise some patience waiting in all those lines.  It also helps if you buy some hiking boots, fancy zip-away pants and get some poles.  Then again if you're Capitan Donaldo you can do it in shorts and flip-flops...  #1 is LoLa at the first bridge we came to.  "When you get to the first bridge, cross it..."

5 miles visibility this morning with mostly sunny skies.  Winds are offshore by 3.6kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temp was 48.9 and the water is holding at 60.9.  Low tide was at 10:56am +1.7' and high tide will follow at 4:29pm +3.8'.  It was 1' to 2' and pretty small, but a fun corner here and there...

Buck, LoLa and the Professor take a moment to smile for the camera.  The trees framing the shot are eucalyptus and are not native to the area.  They were brought to Peru about a hundred years ago to use as wind breaks, lumber and firewood.  Now they're all over the place and the trees love it in Peru.  There are places where they've tried to eradicate them, but not with much success.  At some of the lower elevations it looks like Southern California...

"Wild horses couldn't drag me away..."  Came upon this herd of wild horses on a mesa overlooking the Urubamba River.  The Professor suggested riding them to our camp.  Now you know how Buck got his name.  It should actually be "Buck Off..."
