Winter Solstice Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So we thought this sign atop the Pine's Market in Bass Lake said it all!  Season's greetings to everyone everywhere.  As usual you were brilliant this year, even when YOU didn't think so...

Cloudy skies this morning and a mile visibility.  Rain is in the forecast so have your umbrella at the ready.  Winds were offshore by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The air temperature was 55.2 and the water is 58.6.  Low tide was at 10:31am +2.0' and high tide will be at 3:49pm +3.4'.  We have a 1.6' west swell out of 275º and it was bending into some nice little lefts and long skaty rights off the Hermosa Pier.  After yesterday being so flat, we thought Capitan Donaldo was putting us on when he said there were some nice ones.  Nobody was out.  Maybe they all looked at the camera and didn't see anything.  So it was small, but there were some nice ones!  And only 6 people out!  For the record Frankie Volk was there on his new Christmas fish, Dylan Roa, Kirra Lingman hit the surf before running down to open Becker's for the Christmas rush, Jah Morgan kept her streak alive (with a perfect "10" on her last wave), José Bacalao was doing the SUP dance and the Professor had to get in the water before heading to Boise...

In #2 we have a small collage of Christmastime in the South Bay...

And high atop the trail in the Andes we have Buck, LoLa and the Professor wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  They want you to remember that we'll be bringing in the New Year at Laurel Tavern instead of Kincaid's.  The Tavern is located at 1220 Hermosa Blvd. just a few doors down from Pier Ave.  You can park across the street in the lot next to Starbucks and since we'll be there at 5pm there should be plenty of parking...  We'll be heading up to Boise for a white Christmas, or at least that's what's advertised.  The report will be sporadic or leaned out until the 2nd of January, at which point we'll do our best to keep you abreast of the surf and culture...  Amor y paz...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
