A Conflicted Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So why is this a conflicted Wednesday?  Let's look at the stats and then we'll talk about it...  We have 15 miles visibility and a few clouds.  Winds were offshore at checkout by 3.6kts and the sea surface was rolling smoothly.  The air temperature was 50.9 and the water is an amazing 61.5 considering the rain and wind.  Low tide is at 11:49am +0.9' and high tide will be at 5:44pm +3.2'.  After yesterday's storm we have a west swell out of 260º at 7.2' and we'll call it 5' to 8' with a full fledged pulse for a change.  #1 shows a nice one coming through Secrets and you can even see some lines on the north side of the jetty.  So why all the Sturm und Drang?  Well, it rained an inch and three quarters yesterday after months of virtually no rain at all.  Now if you checked any of the outfalls yesterday you might have noticed the chocolate hued effluence issuing into the relatively blue Pacific...  Lots of that bacteria whose main purpose is to make surfers ill and simple dog shit...  Now if you zoom in on #1 you'll see that there are good number of chargers who think it's worth the risk...  Your call...

The storm passed through yesterday afternoon, late, and left us with a "Yellow sky at night..."   (#2)

The wagon masters have spoken and it's Greenbelt for happy hour this Friday.  5:30 on the pier plaza.  Can't believe we're saying this but, try the hummus...

A frozen foam butterfly (#3) dashes itself against the rocks in this late afternoon pic...
