One Stingray Can Ruin Your Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So, we all remember to do the stingray shuffle when we're out in the shallows, right?  Hmmm, not so much...  Actually the Professor was jumping on to his board and as he pushed off from the bottom stepped on the critter.  A few things to consider:  1. Yes, it really hurts and in this case it bled like a son-of-a-gun.  2.  As soon as you put your wound into hot (very hot) water the pain subsides, but if you remove it from the hot water the pain comes back with a vengeance.  3.  Besides hot water, we would advise copious amounts of rum (#3).  This also acts as a painkiller.  In no time at all the Professor was back on his foot/feet.  The next morning he thought he was still feeling the effects of the toxin, but it turned out to be more related to a traditional hangover...

Pretty much cloudless this morning with 20+ miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 2.7kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a chilly 43.3 and the water has dipped a bit to 59.9.  Low tide is at 6:09am +2.2' and high tide is at 11:48am +4.1' for not much of a tidal differentiation.  We have a west swell out of 269º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3'...

The local gendarmerie du plaige (#1), was quick to the scene and we believe it helps to mention that you know Donnie Souther.  Often...  To everyone...  They were really very thorough.  Blood pressure, pulse, temp. like that...  They also gave us a ride back to our ride!

They have these cool/hot bags (#2) that allow for a little more movement of the affected area.  They also make for a neat trophy of the experience...
