We'll Work For Wasabi Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

A couple of weeks ago the Professor was checking out the sand runes written on the Strand (#'s 1 & 2.)  Sitting there just waiting to be deciphered, we've tried for hours to make something out of them.  Nope, nothing yet...  Wait... one might be a phone number for Angelique...

Now, we're going to give you some numbers and you're either gonna read them or not.  But we can make this pretty damned easy...  You can see that #3 shows that Manhattan Pier is flat...  Likewise #4 describes Sapphire and Topaz in the same condition.  The super red - super blue - super super moon, did nothing to help the surf either.  10 miles visibility under hazy skies, with offshore winds at 3.7kts.  The sea surface was smooth verging on glassy.  The air temperature was 53.1 and the water is 58.8.  High tide was at 8:30am +6.9' and low tide will be at 3:31pm -1.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 193º at 1.6' and we'll call it half that on the sand which would be .8'... and that's being generous...

February is closing in and we'll be heading out mid-month for Nicaragua with the La Barra crew.  Then, it's a jog to El Salvador to check out off-season Playa El Tunco, looking for some small Malibu style peelers, like Big Wednesday.  And then it's Quito and equatorial Galapagos...  Our point here is that the LBS&CR will be erratic at best and missing for some great chunks of the month...  Our plan is to return with some interesting pics, surf stories and cultural updates...
