A Tottering Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

You know how things just sort of happen all at once, making it kind of difficult to wrap your head around what's going on...  It started with SeaWolf showing up at Greenbelt during happy hour.  Almost seismic.  He just walked through the door and there he was!  Amazing!  We were so flummoxed that we didn't even get a pic...  But he looked good!  We actually saw him checking out the surf the next morning, but Buck had to get to back to the inland empire and time was at a premium...  Then this morning we're moseying past the surf conditions chalk board (#1) and we get stopped dead in our tracks by the water temp.  Previous high, 76º and they we're showing 80.  Being the skeptics we are, we hailed the lifeguard.  He came out and we asked him if someone had stolen his chalk?  He said that they had checked the temp twice from the end of the pier and it was 80 both times...  More Amazement...  If things keep up like this Lethal Keithal will join us some morning...

Overcast again this morning.  Kinda odd with the water so warm.  When the water temps rise we usually have sunnier conditions.  7 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the east initially, then turned from the south by 4 to 7kts.  The sea surface was bumped.  The air temperature was 70.7 and the water temp at the buoy was 74.  High tide was at 8:20am +3.8' and low tide will be at 12:58pm +2.6'.  We have a SSW swell out of 198º at 2.6' and it was 2' to 3' and fun considering the deteriorating conditions due to the wind...

This is the young woman who won the Johnny Mangiagli surfboard at the Avery Benefit.  She was trying to carry it out of the Comedy and Magic Club and trying desperately to drop it.  The Professor suggested that she flip it over and carry it bottom-out.  Magic!  Now that she can carry it, we're waiting to see her in the line-up...

In #3 we have Marissa Jane flying down the line on this little squeaker below the pier.  When you think about it we have some of the best surfers in California surfing with us on a regular basis.  To top it off, quite a few of them are women!

Happy hour this week will be at Samba under the direction of Mark Berglund.  5:30pm on the patio...
