Tooth & Nail Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

This composite photograph from space (#1) shows the temperature and distribution of various aerosols in our atmosphere.  The blue-white patches over the oceans are storms.  They show blue and white because of the salt content in the atmosphere above the disturbances.  The white dots over the continents are courtesy of the Edison Company and our our penchant for light pollution.  More troublesome are the yellow/orange patches, which indicate fires.  In central Africa they are the mainly the product of farmers burning the chaff from their crops.  Something they've done for centuries.  In the western United States they are the wildfires that have been raging mostly out of control...

Cloudy again this morning and about 6 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the east, light early and freshening throughout the morning to 10kts.  The air is definitely cooler in the morning with a 66 this morning and 71.1 in the water.  Low tide was early at 5:03am +0.3' and high tide will be also in the morning at 11:18am +4.7'.  We have a west swell out of 268º at 3.3' on a diminishing pulse.  It was 3' and some fatter outsides.  Joey Lombardo, was looking forward to a session this morning when he got stung by a bee between his toes!  It was the first morning he had a chance to hit it solo without having to run the surf class.  Here's hoping he makes a speedy recovery...

Most everyone associated with photo #2, suggested that this elephant really enjoyed water skiing.  That is everyone except the elephant.  We were ready to buy that story until we noticed that the beast had been chained to the platform!  At least if we had taken Jumbo surfing it would have been a leash and not a chain!

Just outside of London proper (#3)...
John:  "The studio is around here somewhere.  I think it's across the street."
Ringo:  "No, mum, we're not the Rolling Stones, would you like to cross the street with us?..."
Paul:  "Ahh, Ringo your collar's a fookin' mess..."
George:  "Aye Paul, maybe you should get rid of the sandals, barefoot would be more spiritual!  Don't talk to her Ringo that's Patty Boyd's mum."
John:  "Let's walk across one at a time to piss off the commuters..."

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
The Professor!!
