Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We really rely on electricity.  We know this because when we don't have any, you don't get a surf report.  Ice cream gets a little soft, no snap to the pickles and the broccoli gets a tad flaccid.  But don't worry, we paid the bill and whatever Edison had to do, they did it...

What Edison didn't do was provide a little more sun today.  Visibility was 7 to 8 miles and the sky was cloudy.  Winds were out of the west (and the seagulls concurred with that assessment) and actually diminished a bit as the morning trickled away.  The air temperature at checkout was 63.3º and the water is a surprising 68.2º at the buoy.  High tide is at 9:41am +5.9' and low tide will be at 3:57pm +0.2' going into the minuses for the rest of the week.  We have a SSW swell out of 202º at 2.6' and it was 2' to almost 3' on the rising tide.

Don't need to tell you about the spectacular pyrotechnics on Monday night!  Here's (#'s 1 & 2) a couple of snaps we hodged from the LA County guards that give some indication of the nature of the display.  That and it went on for hours!

#3)  Do you run toward her or away?  (This might be a test)

Nine out of ten respondents identified this (#4) as Huntington Beach.  A reasonable call given the events of the last week.  But nay-nay!  It's Summerland, just south of Santa Barbara.  We do recall when we were young and would drive along PCH in Huntington, that the east side of the highway was packed with oil pumps and derricks and didn't look too different from this snap.  No surprises...
