Lost Boys & Co...

NOW, we know who (#1) we're voting for in 2024!  Our only caveat is that he has Sam Elliot for Vice President.  We will be prepared to abide...

Partly cloudy skies this morning and at least 20 miles visibility.  Winds were a steady offshore at 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 50.1º and the water is 62.6º.  Low tide was at 7:12am +3.1' and high tide will be at 1:01pm +5.1'.  A west swell out of 270º true at 3.3' and it was a consistent 3' to 4' with some well shaped lines.  Kinda as good as Hermosa gets this time of year...

"How To Make An Island 101"  All you have to do is look to the Big Island of Hawaii and you get a first hand look at island building.  The first eruptions were about 700,000 years ago and the first vestiges of an island started to pop up about 400,000 years ago.  The eruptions (#2 & #3) are courtesy of Mauna Loa, the largest subaerial volcano on earth, rising from it's base to the summit a total of 30,085 ft!  The last time it erupted was 1984.  We were wondering, since the volcano is really responsible for the island, why they don't call it "Mauna Loa" instead of Hawaii?  This eruption has caused a lot of lava to flow, but so far flights and travel haven't been impacted by ash and debris...
