A Mahatma Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The day dawned cloudy and bleak with just a hint of intermittent rain.  Gray, gray and gray.  But in photo #1 you can see the surf class hitting the water trying to avoid Burnsy's Lefts.  Winds were offshore once again at 4 to 6kts and the sea surface looked smooth but had a bit of bump to it.  The air temperature was 57.0º and the water is holding at 59.4º.  High tide was at 9:47am +5.6' and low tide will hit a -0.3' at 5:07pm.  We continue to have a west swell out of 262º at 6.2' and it was 6' to 9' and anxious to try breaking any board you might bring...

So the class left the water and as the last student was hitting the sand our hero Christiano Von Stutzman showed up and after a fast application of wax, ventured out on the north side conveyor belt and paddled through the pier and south until he was almost even with the buoy.
He caught this outsider (#2) and rode it almost to the 10 St. tower.  When we grow up we'd like to surf like him...
