Taming of the Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Uh, oh... The Professor is giving us the thumbs down sign. Might could be that the surf isn't so hot. Let's take a look at the stats...

Visibility is 12 miles, under clear but hazy skies. Supposed to get cloudy later in the day with a chance of rain. Winds are calm and the sea surface is smooth. The air temperature at 7am was 53.4° and the water is holding at 58.3°. High tide is at 8:32am +5.0' and low tide will be at 2:39pm -0.1'. The buoy is reading a 2.3' swell out of 226°. Unfortunately the combination of the tide and small swell are keeping things pretty darned flat.

The weatherman is calling for rain off and on for the next four days. Our guess is that it will mostly be off, but the West Conus Sector shows a pretty healthy low pressure spinning a couple of hundred miles off the coast. The platform Harvest readout show a 6.3' swell out of 290° headed right our way. If the wind and tide remain the same there could be some wave action in our future. Stay tuned!

Letters from our readers:

Re: The boat tied to the dry dock fence on Hermosa Ave.
i like that the boat's called "My Future Ex". What a realist.
gidget

Boomfwappa says: If anything would ever make me move from, or say I not from, Redondo Beach it's that motherf@$%%in sign for the pier.....what a piece of shit...Boomfwappa who's no artist can come up with something better than that....really third world...but of course Boomfwappa says...that's where we're headed anyway............That's what Boomfwappa says!
(Well if we were in the first world, shouldn't we have to pass through the second world before we get to the third? Ed.)

i was truly inspired by this epic tale of the one you call danger boy...
so enthralled was i, that i was about to paddle out when i realized it was 11pm and i have a paper due tomorrow morning. Blake Cole
(Work on the paper - the surf's crap. If Danger Boy were in your situation he would get a four inch paper cut and be almost bled out before getting to the health center. Danger Boy rated a short-lived comic strip done by Sea Wolf and the Professor in the early days of the Lost Boys. We understand the Professor has contemplated bringing him back to do battle with the Watchmen. Good luck... Ed.)

Finally, there have been several requests for new Lost Boy hats. If you are interested let us know so we can get an idea of how many to order and what the final cost will be.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..." The Professor!!
