Lost Boys & Co...

If there's one thing Johnny Siskowic can do is go fast.  Here's an example on a Topaz steamer about a week ago.  Of course he made it!  Photo credit: Vinny Imbiale (who we hope is mending quickly.)

Misty cool morning with the ceiling right on the ground.  3 miles visibility and a few drizzlations in the corners.  Winds offshore by 5.1kts at checkout and the sea surface was glassy.  The air temperature is 54.3° and the water is 57.6°.  High tide kicks in early at 4:45am +4.9' and low tide will be at 12:01pm +1.3'.  The ever popular 46221 Buoy is reading a SSW swell out of 205° true at 3.3'.  Still too much south for most of the breaks, but it's 1' to 3' and if you're hungry you can grab a bite.

"My Other Car Is A Zamboni" Dept.:
So Danger Girl, Donna Ball, went to the hockey game with Danger Boy on her birthday.  When the period was winding down a handsome gent appeared at her elbow and escorted her down to the ice.  The next thing you know she was parading around the rink, sitting in high heaven on the Zamboni, doing the royal family wave and basking in her 15 minutes of fame.  Yeah, we're jealous...  And think about all those points Danger Boy scored!

"Okay, It Was On Page 7" Dept.:
The Coach couldn't wait to share the Daily Breeze this morning.  "Look at the name of this kiddie porn ring they just busted!"  Oh, shit!  Hey, it's not like we can copyright the name.  On the other hand we think we know who was behind this, yep!  It had to be that Peter Pan guy.  The tights, the little cap - oh yeah the shoes were the give away.  Book'em Dono...

"Sugar & Spice" Dept.:
This Melekian dude is so sickeningly sweet I want to barf....At the Mexican Ranch the next wave will not be better than the one you just rode.  You may surf it better, or you may surf it worse, but the wave itself will be perfect - perfection off a stable reef, wave after wave.
Tyrone James
(True dat...  But we're not through yet!  Besides TJ is heading for Costa Rica tomorrow and we're thinking his attitude is going to do a radical 180...  Ed.)

"...Be A Good Surfer"  Brad Melekian
Know how to deliver a good stinkeye, but don't do it unless necessary.  Let your surfing do the talking, operate with the understanding that you are going to get waves because you can.
On this point:  Surf at a spot that suits your skill level.  A good surfer does not get in the way, does not insert himself into a lineup where he does not belong.  Instead, he surfs at a spot where he can get waves, because he can.
Pro tour, competition, surf celebrities, star studded movie premiers:  Okay.  But don't get too excited by any of it.  Know that the great aim of all of these entities is to promote "industry" and that the great aim of industry is to get you to buy things.  This is truth.
If you have allowed the purchasing of products to become a major part of your surf experience, put this magazine down, sit in a quiet place, reflect.
That said, don't be overzealous.  People try to make money.  Understand this, come to terms with it, participate in it where appropriate, but mostly ignore it.  Realize it has nothing to do with your experience of surfing, and move on.

Here is an attachment for the alumni contest.  Please pass the word...
See you on saturday.

Finally, here's a shot of the Professor on a tight little left at Sapphire.  You can tell he's thinking, "It just might be a better idea to grab the rail about now..."  Photo credit:  Sting Ginther.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
