Thirty-Eight Special Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Lots of peachy glow in that sky last night, with the lights coming on around the Queen's Necklace.  Like Christmas in the So. Bay.

The coolness continues as a low sun popped up this morning and sent some rather oblique rays our way.  Hazy at that, with 20 miles visibility.  Winds were off by 4.3kts and the sea surface was smooth, wind scuffed.  The air temp. was triple-quads at 44.4° and the water is 59.0° and 58° even at Hermosa Beach.  High tide is at 7:05am +6.0' and low tide follows at 2:23pm -0.3'.  Beachcombing Harvest Alert:  Green.  Swell out of the SSW 206° at 1.6'.  We're calling it 1' and poor, but looking more hopeful than yesterday.  Not as scary...

Photo #2 has Oscar applying a paste to the decal to seal it in place, so you can sand it level with the rest of the board.  #3 has him making sure that all of the bubbles have been popped and that there aren't any voids.  He sees bubbles that 7-Up doesn't even know exist...

Story  from an OPP Officer:

I made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding
on Hwy 401 Eastbound at Hwy 400.
I asked for her driver's license, registration, and  proof of insurance.
The  lady took out the required information and handed it to me.
In with the cards I was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age)
to see she had a conceal carry permit. I looked at her and ask  if
she had a weapon in her possession at this time.

She responded that she indeed had a .45  automatic in her glove  box.
Something---body  language, or the way she said it---made me want
to ask if she had any other firearms. She did admit to also having
a  9mm Glock in her center console. Now I had to ask one more
time if that was all. She responded once again that she did have
just one more, a .38 special in her purse. I then asked her what
was she so afraid of.

She looked me right in the eye and said, "Not a f#cking thing!"
(We aren't anti-gun, just pro-knife...   Ed.)
