Labor Day Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

At first glance there's nothing particularly special about this Cardon left, with the Professor sculling with that trailing arm to get a little extra speed...  That is until you take a look to the right of the photo and see what appears to be a larinae-laridae or sea gull tearing down on him at about 30mph riding the swell effect, much like the pelicans do...  It was a near miss, no wait, it was a near hit!  Wouldn't a near miss be a hit?

A fine hot Labor Day as the sun rose on schedule and cleared the skies and left us with 20+ miles visibility.  Winds were light out of the SSE and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 69.8˚ and the water was 72.1˚ at the buoy rising to the highest we've ever recorded of 76.5˚ at 2pm.  Low tide was at 7:13am +2.4' and high tide will be at 2:16pm +4.9'.  We have a SSW swell out of 195˚ at 2.6' and it's a weak 2' at most spots...

Sometimes the waves at Cardon get a bit long.  Here we have Sammy taking a sit-down through a bit of inside section to rest her legs.  She's laughing because she's just realized it's not going to be as easy to get up as she thought...
