Still Some Tar Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Are we not tar, we are men...  "No, no buddy, we're not covered in tar.  These are wetsuits.  What do you mean why are they black like tar?  No, you can't smell them to see if we have tar on them!  We're fine.  We're going surfing.  Is there tar out in the water?  Well, where do you think it comes from?  Why do you think they used to call sailors TARS!  Or how about "Antimacassars?"  You know those doilies your grandmother had on the backs of her overstuffed chairs?  They were there to protect against the "Macassar" tar that the sailors used to keep their pony tails stuck together!  Look, we're going surfing...  if you don't leave us alone we'll inflate your vest and send you out to sea..."

Overcast this morning with 10 miles visibility.  Winds were light onshore this morning 1.7kts out of the west.  The sea surface was smooth and the wind didn't come up full until about 9am.  The air temperature was 59.9˚ and the water is 62.2˚.  High tide was at 10:31am +3.8' and low tide will follow at 3:20pm +1.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 213˚ at 3.3', which translates to about 2' waves with some fatter outsides.  Still fun...

Meanwhile out in the water (the lower 5 surfers) we have Jetski Vishnevsky (who by the way scored TEN (count'em) legit waves today,) Clark the Meth Hunter, Marisa Jane, the Professor and Fast Robin Fenlon.  Some nice little peelers and good times, not to mention the fabu brekky that followed.  By the by, it was LoLa's first legitimate morning without having to go to work...  She seemed to handle pretty well...
