Surf Trip Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Some of the usual crew checking Hermosa in the rain.  From L. to R.:  Jetski Vishnevsky, Sea Marisa Jane, The Professor and Rasta Pete.  The conversation was going like this:  "How come I always have to be Mr. Pink?"  "Okay, Marisa can be Mr... No wait...  Marisa can be Ms. Pink...  "Well, that's kinda sexist!"  "Well, yeah.  That's what makes it funny."

Meanwhile, it rained off and on this morning, steady at times.  Visibility was 5 miles and the winds were from the north at 7.3kts.  The sea surface was smooth to glassy at the Cove, with the seaweed keeping things oiled down.  The air temperature was 69.0˚and the water was 64.6˚.  Low tide was at 9:43am +0.3' and high tide will be at 4:L41pm +4.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 198˚ at 3.9' and it was just about that on the hill...

Hermosa was bumpy and windy.  Sapphire was small.  Rat wasn't breaking.  But the Cove had waves and to top it off, there was no one out.  Boris, Robin and the Professor made it down and had it to themselves for a two hour session!  A little rain, a lot of paddling, a spell where it went flat for 20 minutes and a shifting line-up made it interesting, but certainly worth the walk!  (Photos:  Bobbin' Robin Fenlon, Reuters/Hooters.)
